We’re proud of our youth groups. First Presbyterian has two active
and spirited youth groups for grades 6 through 12. Esprit is a group
designed especially for young people in grades 6, 7 and 8; Genesis
welcomes high schoolers. Regular programming takes place weekly from
September through June, and includes a variety of age-appropriate
activities, including service projects, fundraisers, and fellowship.
A young person is not required to attend or join First Presbyterian
Church in order to participate in our youth programs. Our youth
groups include young people from many area schools, including:
Central, Garber, John Glenn, Western, Pinconning, Frankenmuth,
Immanuel Lutheran, Cramer and Handy.
Activities emphasize group
building, self-esteem development and commitment to Christian
living. We want youth to view church as a safe and loving home where
they are respected, supported, valued, celebrated and forgiven when
necessary.
Youth Bible Study is called “TNT,
or “Tuesday Night Talk,” and takes place weekly after the Tuesday
worship service, 7:30-9:00 pm. TNT provides fun, creative, and
surprising ways for youth to examine and discover the truths of our
faith. The group serves not only as a place for study, but as a
caring and supportive community for all of those who attend. .
The youth programs believe in
mission. Each summer, the youth travel out of state to workcamps
where they repair and winterize homes of persons in need. The groups
are accompanied by adults from the congregation who also participate
in the home repair projects. |
