Red was the color of the day:
clothing, flowers, banners and balloons. As part of the
Pentecost celebration, worshipers brought red geraniums to
be planted outside on church grounds. Dr. Weenink's sermon,
"Fire and Rain", detailed how the fire of the Holy Spirit
has touched our congregation via many church ministries.
Fifty red helium balloons adorned the chancel to represent
the 50th day after Easter. Communion was served. During the
final hymn, balloons descended onto the congregation. After
worship the congregation proceeded to the courtyard to burn
the palms from Palm Sunday and to release the helium
balloons. The day was a wonderful celebration of the
birth of the Christian church.
Baptism Renewal
January 11, 2004
The congregation gathered to remember their baptismal
promises during a special Baptism renewal service.
Worshipers were given small containers of water upon
entering the sanctuary. During the service they were invited
to the font to empty their containers into the font as a
symbol of turning over their concerns to God. At the end of
the service they were invited back to the font to receive
the cleansing waters of baptism.
