We’re proud of our youth groups. First Presbyterian has two active and spirited youth groups for grades 6 through 12.
Esprit is a group designed especially for young people in grades 6, 7 and 8.
Genesis welcomes high schoolers.
Regular programming takes place weekly from September through June, and includes a variety of age-appropriate activities, including service projects, fundraisers, and fellowship. A young person is not required to attend or join First Presbyterian Church in order to participate in our youth programs. Our youth groups include young people from many area schools, including: Bay City Central, Essexville Garber, Bangor John Glenn, Western High School, Pinconning High School, Valley Lutheran, Western Middle School, Christa McAullife Middle School, Cramer Jr. High and Handy Middle School.
Activities emphasize group building, self-esteem development and commitment to Christian living. We want youth to view church as a safe and loving home where they are respected, supported, valued, celebrated and forgiven when necessary.

We looked forward to returning to many of these activities once COVID-19 has passed.
Youth Bible Study
Youth Bible Study is called “TNT, or “Tuesday Night Talk,” and takes place Tuesdays 5:30-7:30 pm from September through May. TNT provides fun, creative, and surprising ways for youth to examine and discover the truths of our faith. The group serves not only as a place for study, but as a caring and supportive community for all of those who attend. Grades 6-12
Esprit
Genesis
Genesis is our senior high fellowship group. It is open to all youth in grades 9 -12. They meet Sunday evenings from 6:30 -8:00 p.m. unless otherwise posted.
Summer Workcamp
The youth programs believe in mission. Our program year ends with a bang as we head off to our summer workcamps. The youth and their adult leaders help repair and weatherize homes for low-income, elderly, and disabled individuals.
Prayer Partners
Each young person has the opportunity to be matched with an adult congregation member. This “partnership” lasts at least until the youth graduates from high school. Both the youth partner and the adult partner are expected to contribute to the friendship. "Prayer partners" is a way to affirm each youth individually, and provides a tangible connection between youth and the adult members of the congregation.
Prayer Partners Recognition and Potluck takes place each Spring. |
